A heat exchanger in the core transfers thermal energy from the outgoing stale air to the incoming fresh air — so you get fresh air without losing the heat you've already paid to generate. MIA's systems recover up to 90% of this thermal energy.

Operating costs depend on model, climate, and usage. Typically, an AHE-200 running 24/7 consumes 45–80W — roughly €3–5/month in electricity. This is more than offset by heating/cooling savings, which for most climates amount to €200–600/year compared to window ventilation.

The G4 pre-filter should be cleaned every 3 months (washable, reusable). The F7 fine filter typically lasts 6–12 months. The HEPA filter lasts 12–24 months depending on local air quality. The MIA smart controller tracks filter life and sends app notifications when replacement is needed.

Yes. The Pipeless Series is specifically designed for retrofit — requiring only a single 150mm core drill through the exterior wall. For central HRV systems (AHE Series), installation requires ductwork, which is easiest in new construction but can be integrated into existing spaces during renovation. Our engineers can assess any building type.

All MIA products carry a 2-year standard warranty covering manufacturing defects and component failures under normal operation. Extended 5-year warranties are available through our regional offices. The heat exchange core carries a separate 10-year warranty as it has no moving parts.

Yes. All AHE and XFHR series units include automatic defrost protection that prevents ice formation in the heat exchanger down to -25°C. In climates below -15°C, we recommend pairing with the optional pre-heater accessory to further protect the unit during extended cold spells.
